Information and technology transfer have
been achieved through publishing of the newsletter "ROOTS"
besides leaflets, fliers, technical reminders etc which are
widely circulated within and outside SARRNET countries. SARRNET
also organizes and sponsors scientific workshops in the SADC
countries. In Phase I, SARRNET organized and sponsored a successful
scientific workshop held in Zambia where 65 scientific papers
were presented. SARRNET also sponsored about 30
researchers who attended 4 other scientific congresses and
symposia in Africa. Several regional training courses
ranging from research
|
and development to postharvest
systems were also organized. Other areas of information
exchange include the creation of SARRNET Home page on
the Internet. Electronic mail is also installed for ease
of communication. Various reports are produced monthly,
semi annually and annually. Inter visits exchange for
the scientists and partners are also sponsored. Field
days and open days have been very instrumental in SARRNETs
activities to boost information sharing.
