Multiplication & distribution

The need for improved varieties Multiplication and distribution of planting materials for drought mitigation under SARRNET have demonstrated that effective linkages between research and extension including NGOs can function efficiently for the benefit of farmers in multiplying and distributing pathogen-free improved planting materials. All SARRNET countries are implementing this activity to accelerate impact at the farm level. Many primary, secondary and tertiary nurseries have been established and farmers are benefiting from them. Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Lesotho and Mozambique have successfully established nurseries of improved varieties in many locations. Efforts to expand these initiatives are still required.
