Manoj Kaushal, an Indian citizen, is an Associate Scientist, Systems Agronomist. He graduated in Basic Sciences from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He has a post graduate degree in Microbiology from Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Uttarakhand, India. He holds a doctorate degree in Microbiology from Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan. His PhD research examined the efficacy of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria on sustainable crop productivity.

Before coming to IITA, he worked at ICRISAT for more than three years on Indo-EU funded Water4Crops project. Besides this, his research focused on plant-microbe interactions to look after the beneficial traits to ameliorate crop productivity for various crops as well soil health in semi-arid areas.  He worked on the development of technologies from laboratory to land and their demonstrations in the field. He also worked as Assistant Professor for more than two years and guided master’s students for their dissertation work.
