Catherine Njuguna is the Regional Corporate Communications Officer for Eastern Africa based in IITA – Tanzania. She oversees the dissemination of information on the institute’s activities and provides communication support for scientists in the hubs and stations. She has over 10 years of progressive experience in communication-for-development activities with various national, regional, and international organizations in Africa working with print, electronic, and social media, on communication research, policy and advocacy, and capacity building. Previously she worked as the Head of the Nairobi Production Office of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) based in Kenya. The office supports the production of communication material for ICRC’s offices in sub-Saharan Africa. Before that she was the Information Officer for Arid Lands Information Network – Eastern Africa (ALIN-EA) and a Communication Specialist at Practical Action. Catherine has a master’s degree in Communication Studies and a post graduate Diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi’s School of Journalism. She also has a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Studies (Science) from Kenyatta University.
