ATA-DRC records successes in 2022
6 February 2023

The annual planning workshop of the Agenda for Agricultural Transformation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (ATA-DRC) program activities took place from 23 to 25 January in South Kivu. The meeting’s objective was to review the activities of 2022 and plan for 2023.
ATA-DRC is an initiative of the Head of State, H.E. Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture with technical assistance provided by IITA–CGIAR and the African Agricultural Leadership Institute (AALI).
Various stakeholders and program partners participated in the planning workshop, in which they evaluated activities in different program implementation sites.
It emerged from the meeting that ATA-DRC made significant progress in its sites at Mongata, Lubumbashi, Ruzizi, Lualaba, Nkuadi, Nkudi, TShopo, and Mbujimayi. The program achieved these successes with the participation of local communities. The activities included the production of maize, soybean, plantain, and cassava seeds; improving the cassava and maize flour production plants; and mobilizing the authorities and farming communities.

At the end of the meeting, the participants gave recommendations that would enable them to collaborate better to achieve the objectives of the AWAL program, which places the socioeconomic well-being of the population at the center of its interests.
