Emergency Support Project for Food Security in Guinea-Bissau

Project goals

The project’s goal is to enhance agricultural productivity and strengthen seed systems in Guinea-Bissau by providing technical assistance for climate-smart technologies and innovations across key value chains, including maize, sorghum, millet, vegetables, and cassava.

Expected Results:

1. Five (05) INPA experts and 15 lead farmers trained in vegetable seed production.

2. Five INPA experts and 15 lead farmers trained in composting.

3. Five INPA experts and 15 seed multipliers trained in producing and certifying early-generation sorghum and millet seeds.

4. Five INPA experts and 15 seed out-growers trained in the production and certification of maize seed production and business management.

5. A screen house (with solar power for the fan and real-time monitoring) is installed in Caboxanque with TAAT cassava compact support on technical specifications.

6. Technicians of SAH facilities trained

7. High-quality cassava flour processing center installed in Cacine with TAAT cassava compact support on technical specifications

8. Training of local processors done for high-quality cassava flour production

9. Bread bakers trained in bread baking using high-quality cassava flour.

10. Technical backstopping was provided to the SAH technicians, HQCF center, and bread bakers as a follow-up of their training.
