City Regions Food Systems, RUNRES (The rural-urban nexus: Establishing a nutrient loop to improve city region food system resilience) Phase II

Project goals

The goal of the RUNRES project is to improve livelihoods, food security, and environmental and human health in city-region food systems by implementing and scaling innovations for circular food value chains.

Expected Results:

  1. 100% of products are compliant with standards
  2. RUNRES innovations replace at least 10% of current inputs and divert/valorize 10% of organic waste
  3. At least 80% of maximum capacity reached for each innovation
  4. 600 Tons of waste processed per month by the end of the project
  5. At least 3 policy briefs developed (2 for Rwanda, 1 for Congo)
  6. At least 3 advocacy workshops organized (2 for Rwanda, 1 for Congo)
  7. At least 7 economically viable businesses established (4 private sector led, 3 PPP led)
