Cassava Source Sink (CASS)- Phase III
Project goal
The project aims to significantly increase cassava storage roots’ yield and quality under low-input conditions by optimizing plant physiology and source-sink relationships through biotechnology approaches.
Expected Results:
1. Cassava genotype development with advanced genetic and metabolic engineering techniques to optimize for high yield and nutrient content.
This includes the following: 2. Increased cassava production in smallholder farms, translating to increased food security and economic stability in the region.
3. Establishment of a complete database of research output and genetic materials maintained in CASSbase for current and future research and breeding programs.
