Project goal

The goal of CANALLS is to drive agroecological transitions in the humid tropics of Central and Eastern Africa through multi-actor Agroecology Living Labs, benefiting over 20,000 farmers and fostering collaboration, policy dialogue, and the development of practical tools for sustainable agroecological practices.

Expected Results

• EU and Africa jointly tackle climate change and environmental challenges, contributing to the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring food and nutrition security and decent livelihoods.
• Identification of optimal combinations of agroecological practices that enhance climate change mitigation and adaptation in different African farming systems while ensuring business financial viability.
• Quantification and assessment of socio-economic and environmental performance of agroecological strategies, supporting sustainable agriculture, small farmers, and market access.
• Increased adoption and implementation of agroecological practices by farmers, supporting rural communities, and ensuring farm resilience and viability.
• Strengthened transdisciplinary research and integrated scientific support for EU policies and priorities (EU strategy for Africa, Green Deal objectives, etc.).
