Liani, Millicent
Post-Doctoral Gender Research Fellow
Dr. Millicent L. Liani, a Kenyan citizen, is a Post-Doctoral Gender Research Fellow based in IITA Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, working on the Muhogo Bora project. She holds a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts (First class honors) degree in Anthropology and Gender Studies, all from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. She has a disciplinary training background in anthropology and gender studies. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. Her Ph.D. Fellowship was funded through the Developing Excellence in Leadership, Training, and Science in Africa (DELTAS Africa) Learning Research Programme (LRP), where she focused her research on ‘Exploring the barriers and enablers to gender equitable scientific career pathways in African research institutions. She has a long-standing interest in gender integration in research and development work.
Prior to pursuing her Ph.D., Dr. Liani worked as a Gender Research Associate with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), where she provided technical support with the implementation of the Grain Legume and Dryland Cereals; and the Livestock and Fish gender research strategies.
