Komi Fiaboe, a Togolese Entomologist and IPM Specialist, has been appointed as Entomologist at IITA Cameroon. A true product and twice Alumnus of IITA, Komi conducted his MSc in Agricultural Sciences’ research at IITA-Benin (2000-2001) and his first postdoctoral experience in IITA-Uganda where he served as APO, Banana Entomologist (2006-2009) covering Uganda and DRC.

Prior to the new appointment, he was Senior Scientist in the Plant Health Theme and Leader of the Insect for Food and Feed Program at ICIPE. He has also worked as Entomologist at the Centre of Biological Control in Florida, USA, conducting field activities in Aruba and Curacao. His PhD in Agricultural Entomology and Acarology was conducted in sandwich between Kenyatta University (Kenya), ICIPE and University of Sao Paulo (Brazil). He holds a BSc & MSc in Agricultural Sciences (“Ingénieur Agronome”) from the University of Lomé (Togo). Komi carried out various research-for-development initiatives in Biological control (classical, conservative and augmentative), Biopesticides, Botanicals, Insect ecology and, recently, insect for food and feed. He coordinated various multi-institutional projects, mentored many postgraduate students and lead policy and standard development for edible insects in East Africa. He speaks French, English and Portuguese.
