2006 IITA-GCP Bioinformatics workshop

2006 IITA-GCP Bioinformatics workshop will be held on Oct. 12th – 13th at ILRI campus in Nairobi, Kenya.
The goal of this workshop is to build the research capacity in the area of genomics and bioinformatics in IITA-Nairobi as well as the NARs in this region. In this first workshop, the current research projects (cowpea/cassava SNP program) will be used as an example of how to use bioinformatics idea for genomics research, and the participants will do some practices on the specific issues including comparative genomics, database search, SNP research, primer design (degenerate primers, cross-genome primers, and allele specific PCR primers), and gene ontology. Open discussion on the second day is designed for developing ideas for the future collaborating projects with IITA-NARS
